Attractive salary plus excellent benefits
03 July 2022
The Western Gateway partnership is the UK’s first pan-regional powerhouse to span two countries. Stretching across South Wales and Western England, our powerhouse is working to power the UK’s efforts to reach net zero whilst also providing opportunities to those at risk of being left behind.
Director of the Western Gateway | Attractive salary plus excellent benefits
We have achieved a lot in the last year; from being shortlisted as a potential site to deliver a prototype fusion energy plant, to beginning a new independent commission to relook at whether the right time is now for the Severn Estuary to be used to create clean, sustainable energy. We have built strong national and international relationships with Government, strategic partners, and investors, but there is still much to do.
Reporting to the Chair and Board, we are looking for our new Director to realise our vision of becoming a green energy super cluster and delivering our five key missions of: contributing £34 billion to the UK economy; attracting investment and growing exports by £4 billion; decarbonising our economy; connecting communities; and unlocking innovation.
Ensuring that our voice is heard and has weight both nationally and internationally, you will be instrumental in determining the success and impact of the Western Gateway. By influencing policy, spending, and investment decisions, your work will ensure our Pan-Regional Partnership is well placed and able to deliver its ambition to drive inclusive growth across our geography.
Your extensive knowledge and experience in managing key regional and national partners across Whitehall, the Welsh Government, Local Government, and the private sector, coupled with your ability to turn strategy into action, and action into impact, will position you well to succeed in this role.
You will be a natural collaborator, system leader and outstanding communicator, that is able to generate collective focus, commitment, and accountability for delivering the priorities of the partnership. Your understanding of the innovative business environment in our area, and your ability to engage and convene multiple stakeholders will be instrumental in successfully delivering the objectives of this role.
You will be a strong influencer; with the implementation and delivery of our key programmes being done though our strategic partners, you will have demonstrable experience of successfully providing oversight and guidance to indirectly led teams, giving high levels of assurance throughout to ensure ambitions are achieved.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a unique organisation, that is at the heart of delivering a greener, fairer future.
