We're recruiting to the post of Director of Housing, Transportation and Public Protection to provide strategic direction and excellent overall leadership and management of these services.

You will lead on the council’s housing landlord function, strategic transport delivery and commissioning, and public protection services, taking the lead on operational housing matters for the council and the management and maintenance of all council housing properties and community safety issues.

You will manage passenger transport and sustainable transport including arranging delivery of school transport and grants to subsidise uneconomic commercial routes, delivery of SEND transport, passenger assistants and taxis, transport commissioning, road safety and school crossing patrols.

You will also manage a range of public protection services including environmental control, food safety, trading standards, licensing, private sector housing and health and safety services.

You will have the opportunity to develop and implement divisional, cross directorate and multi-agency projects e.g. gypsy encampments, community safety and anti-social behaviour matters. You will also build and maintain interdepartmental and multi-agency partnerships including involvement of the public to ensure delivery of government policy in accordance with the council’s priorities for the people of the East Riding, for example representing the Council on Safe Communities, Safeguarding and Improved Health related groups. You will also lead and coordinate the Council and partners’ responses on Domestic Abuse and Prevent.
