Executive Director of Wellbeing and Housing

Southampton City Council

Ref: GSe85672

A healthy city where everyone thrives

Southampton is a city of opportunity. We are an exciting, vibrant, and historic place with a diverse population, the largest city in central Southern England and a regional centre for employment, retail, education, and leisure. Well connected to other cities by rail and motorway, we are the third highest ranking city in the UK for good growth and are a city that has a tremendous track record for delivering on its ambition to compete on the world stage.

Executive Director for Wellbeing & Housing (DASS) | up to £140,000

We are looking for an Executive Director for Wellbeing & Housing to join us at an exciting point in our transformation journey. As our statutory DASS, you will lead across a range of service areas that include stronger communities; integration; adult social care; public health; and housing. More than service leadership we will look to you as a true corporate leader within our authority, and as we realign our organisation to be the best it can be for the future, your service remit may develop as we transform ourselves to continue to deliver the best possible outcomes for our residents.

Wellbeing runs through the very centre of our corporate plan. You will be committed to ensuring our city is a place where people can start well, live well, age well, and live happy and fulfilling lives. You will develop and lead services that intervene early, promote wellbeing, and allow people to live independently for longer.

You will be at the forefront of leading health and social care integration in our city, working in close partnership with our health and third sector partners. With significant policy and legislative changes on the horizon for adult social care, you will confidently and competently navigate through uncertainty, leading our system to deliver the best-in-class services to our residents and communities.

The leaders that succeed in Southampton are those who embody our values. As well as being an expert in one or more of the services that you lead, you will be committed to our customers, to best practice, and to driving service improvement. You will be committed to working collaboratively with our partners, both new and old, and to delivering value for money in all that you do.

For more information about this opportunity or a confidential discussion about your suitability, please contact Frazer Thouard (07384 810 743) or Alex Hayes (0113 205 6109) from our retained partners at GatenbySanderson.
