Stockport Council
Stockport is undergoing an exciting £1billion transformation programme creating new, homes, jobs and opportunities, improved infrastructure and a wide range of economic benefits, not just now but for future generations, and making Stockport a vibrant and desirable location.
The role of Strategic Head of Neighbourhoods is to lead the council’s neighbourhood management services so that Stockport continues to be a great place to live and work with public spaces that are vibrant, clean and safe with a particular focus on our district and local centres. You will act as acting as a custodian of our places, working with elected members, communities and key partners to transform and deliver modern and effective services, underpinned by digital technologies and behaviours. You will also encourage business and community groups to become more active in their places, support active travel and deliver safe communities through effective public protection services with key partners such as Greater Manchester Police.
We are looking for a transformational leader with experience in delivering neighbourhood focused services at a senior management level. You will need to demonstrate a track record of building strategic partnerships at a neighbourhood level and have the associated communication skills to effectively engage with partners, politicians, business and community groups and other senior stakeholders. Your background may be in direct service provision, or as a partner or contractor, but you must have experience of maximising service performance and effective financial management.
