East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust
At East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (ESHT) we provide safe, compassionate, and high quality hospital and community care to the half a million people living in East Sussex and those who visit our local area.
We are one of the largest organisations in East Sussex with an annual income of £534 million and we are the only integrated provider of acute and community care in Sussex. Our extensive health services are provided by over 7,000 dedicated members of staff working from two acute hospitals in Hastings and Eastbourne, three community hospitals in Bexhill, Rye and Uckfield, over 100 community sites across East Sussex, and in people’s own homes.
In 2020 the Care Quality Commission (CQC) rated us as ‘Good’ overall, and ‘Outstanding’ for being Caring and Effective. The Conquest Hospital in Hastings and our Community Services were rated ‘Outstanding’ and Eastbourne DGH was rated ‘Good’.
Moving forward we know we have much still to do and our commitment to our patients and passion for improvement is unwavering. We recognise that it is only by continuing to focus on improvement through innovation, transformation and collaboration that we will achieve our ambitious vision for the future of our Trust and our patients. We are now seeking a Chief Medical Officer to join our executive team. Responsible for all aspects of medical leadership and governance, the appointed individual will take on a significant leadership role within the organisation, and our being identified as one of the Trusts to receive HIP2 funding means that we will be undergoing considerable transformation in the coming years.
An experienced medical director or an experienced medical leader in a large and complex healthcare provider, the successful candidate will bring a track record of providing strategic clinical leadership to improve outcomes for patients. A skilled communicator, and truly corporate leader with an innovative, solutions focused approach, this is a role for an individual able to work effectively across multi-disciplinary teams and across organisational boundaries to support and enable ongoing, innovative programmes of transformational improvement with the ability to focus on our models of care as we transform our service delivery through HIP2.
