Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust provides NHS care and treatment for people across the southeast of England. We provide a mixture of mental health and learning disability services, delivering many of these in partnership with others. With a turnover of over £420 million, 5,000 staff, 9 hospitals and 101 community teams we place our five core values: People first, future focused, embracing change, working together and everyone counts at the heart of all we do

We are rated as “Good” by the Care Quality Commission, and “Outstanding” for caring, and we are proud of our role as the lead organisation in mental health provider collaboratives. Working across two Integrated Care systems, we are one of the most research active NHS organisations in our field and host the Applied Research Collaborative for Kent, Surrey and Sussex. The Trust remains at the forefront of using digital technology to transform care and was the highest user of the ‘Attend Anywhere’ virtual consultation platform across the NHS

Our focus during the pandemic - has remained the people we see, treat and care for together with their families, our people, and our partners as we continue to deliver our vision of improving the quality of life for the communities we service. As we move out of the pandemic, our new Chief People Officer will play a key role in enabling the delivery of the highest standard of healthcare to patients, ensuring we remain a sustainable and innovative system partner. Our Learning for the Future Project will guide how we put into practice all we have learned over the past 2 years to deliver our strategy, People, Prevention and Partnerships, ensuring that we keep service users and carers at the heart of everything we do.

This is a pivotal time for the Trust which provides scope to innovate and to influence future service provision. As such this role requires strong leadership skills and fresh thinking, and you will be joining a board with clear ambitions and strategy. CIPD qualified, you will be an experienced HR leader and board director, able to command the respect of our colleagues internally and externally. With a proven ability to build relationships with our health, care, education and third sector partners locally, regionally. And across our provider collaboratives, we want someone passionate about mental health and learning disability services, who will live and breathe our values.
