Employing over 1,000 people, and with a turnover of £165 million, we are proud to be an anchor organisation in the City of Sunderland. As such, we do much more than just provide a home - we help people into work, support victims of domestic abuse and anti-social behaviour, enable young people to live independently, and provide a wellbeing service that supports our elderly tenants and residents.

In November 2020 we regained our G1 governance rating, and our plans to develop nearly 2,000 new homes by 2025 illustrates our significant growth ambitions. Last year we spent £66m on property maintenance and investment into our properties, and as a values driven housing association that provides more than 60,000 people with a place they can call home, our core purpose is to ensure that tenants are at the heart of Gentoo. This commitment is underlined by our new five-year corporate strategy which is built around the “5Ps” of Place, People, Perform, Partner and Pride, reflecting our high levels of engagement with our colleagues and customers.

Reporting to the Director of Property Maintenance, this is a business-critical role to ensure that we meet our legal requirements in relation to maintenance and servicing programmes for gas, electrical, water hygiene, solid fuel, lifts and lifting equipment. Responsible for leading the development and delivery of a high quality strategy and overseeing a £12m budget, our new Associate Director will also inspire a team of circa 170 which includes the support services required to deliver on all compliance and maintenance programmes.

With extensive knowledge of landlord compliance regulations and legislation, this is an excellent opportunity to progress your career in an ambitious organisation where your outstanding leadership and customer skills will be highly valued. You’ll bring experience of working in partnership with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, delivering continuous improvement to services and an unwavering focus on stretching, yet essential, KPIs. You’ll ensure that tenants are central to your team’s work, making certain that we deliver our services in the safest and best possible manner.
