London Ambulance Service NHS Trust (LAS) plays a key role within a complex but well-established regional system, working closely with partners in the London metropolitan area; the Trusts vision and goals reflect this commitment to working in partnership, whilst recognising the diverse needs of the organisations and communities served. 

Having established the need for change and transformation to improve outcomes and experiences for patients, LAS has an ambitious 5-year strategy to become a world-class ambulance service, ensuring patients receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time.  And indeed, the process of developing a more specialised response at home, on scene, or via phone or online is now well underway and has shown dividends in the most recent CQC rating for the Trust as ‘Good’.  This has also, and will continue to, entail working with commissioners and all other health and emergency service partners across London to develop a consistent and equitable service for patients that is of better value and generates savings, as well as contribute towards Londoners' having health outcomes that are amongst the best in the world.  

The backdrop of Covid-19 has further complicated this already complex situation - requiring significant change in service delivery to protect staff and service users and increased pressure on finance as demands on services have increased and continue to do so in the pandemic’s aftermath.  This has come at a time when implications of operational pressures, increasingly heavy regulatory oversight, system demands, and patient expectations were already combining to form a context that was challenging for many providers.

With a new Chief Executive having recently joined, LAS is looking to find its next senior strategic executive to help the Trust continue to deliver its vision and strategy for the people of London, in an exciting yet challenging environment. Our new Director of Strategy and Transformation plays a pivotal role in enabling the delivery of the highest standards of healthcare to patients.

As an Executive Director, the Director of Strategy & Transformation has a critical role on the Board, providing expert advice and support on the strategic direction of the Trust and for the quality of service and care provided to our patients. We’re seeking someone who shares our passion to build and maintain the culture, capacity and capability required to meet the challenges we face in the years ahead and continue to deliver high-quality patient-centred care.  The role offers the chance to not just shape this within the trust, but to work and engage across the substantial local health and care system, and we are looking for someone who will want to be a role model for our values every single day.
