As the second largest Building Society in the UK and the eighth largest lender, we have a clear and simple ambition: to be the best Mortgage and Savings provider in the UK. This means continued commitment to mutuality, the pursuit of strong commercial performance, and the provision of market leading, innovative products that resonate with our target audiences.  Established in 1884, we are immensely proud of our heritage and achievements. Today we have over 2,700 employees and 1.8 million members.  We are a Which recommended savings provider and one of the Times Top 25 Best Companies to work for.

With a high calibre and ambitious new leadership team, we look to the future with optimism, focused on growing our membership, our market share and improving our business within the parameters of our corporate values.  Continued strong performance in combination with the modernisation of many aspects of our business in the coming years will enable our diverse, highly valued members to benefit from some of the best products on the market and an outstanding customer experience, and it will enable us to do more for the communities and causes we at The Coventry care about.

As our first Chief Data Officer (CDO), you will be tasked with delivering and embedding a new data capability at the Society, responsible for shaping our approach to the provision of best-in-class data products and services to eventually enable every part of our business.  To this end, your recognised subject matter expertise, strategic thinking capability and visible and collaborative leadership approach will be key to success. Whilst prior exposure to financial services or other regulatory industries will be of interest, its not prerequisite. What is more important is your ability to apply subject matter expertise, commercial acumen and inspiring leadership credentials to establish a past-paced, highly responsive function that is known for outstanding business support.

Success in this role will be highly visible and well rewarded, and we see this as a once in a career opportunity to establish a data capability in an ambitious organisation that is committed to making significant investment in business improvement.  In this role, you will be empowered, with easy access to decision makers; able to operate and make progress at pace alongside an engaged, supportive and ambitious team.
