Head of Service, Affordable Workspace Programme 

Our new Head of Service will drive forward a broad programme of activities to provide affordable workspace to businesses that are rooted in Islington, putting local people at the heart of our economy. We will be looking to you to source, deliver and then manage these new spaces through our carefully selected providers to create long-term benefits in our borough.

Social value is at the heart of this programme and is embedded within our contracts; in return for peppercorn rent, you will seek education, training and job opportunities whilst unlocking skills training, the sharing of knowledge and best practice amongst these businesses.

You will join us in breaking new ground on this approach to affordable workspace and push the boundaries of what is possible to ensure our economy works for all residents and local businesses; one where everyone can thrive, no matter where you come from.

To be successful as our new Head of Service, you will have a track record of successfully growing and managing a portfolio of assets, be that workplace or commercial spaces. You will have worked in a large and complex organisation, understanding the impact and interdependencies you service has on others.

You will have demonstrable experience of delivering high profile, long term programmes with the appropriate levels of effective governance and risk management to make them successful. With a commercial and innovative approach, we will look to you to create new models and solutions to deliver and evolve the programme.

You will be an experienced and visible leader, able to energise a large and complex programme, providing confidence and assurance to a variety of stakeholders including Chief Officers, external partners, and elected members.

You will be a natural collaborator, able to grow and foster long term strategic partnerships that deliver maximum value to our residents and communities.
