London Ambulance Service NHS Trust
London Ambulance Service NHS Trust (LAS) plays a key role within a complex but well-established regional system, working closely with partners in the London metropolitan area; the Trusts vision and goals reflect this commitment to working in partnership, whilst recognising the diverse needs of the organisations and communities served.
Having established the need for change and transformation to improve outcomes and experiences for patients, LAS has an ambitious 5-year strategy to become a world-class ambulance service, ensuring patients receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time. And indeed, the process of developing a more specialised response at home, on scene, or via phone or online is now well underway and has shown dividends in the most recent CQC rating for the Trust as ‘Good’. This has also, and will continue to, entail working with commissioners and all other health and emergency service partners across London to develop a consistent and equitable service for patients that is of better value and generates savings, as well as contribute towards Londoners' having health outcomes that are amongst the best in the world.
The backdrop of Covid-19 has further complicated this already complex situation - requiring significant change in service delivery to protect staff and service users and increased pressure on finance as demands on services have increased and continue to do so in the pandemic’s aftermath. This has come at a time when implications of operational pressures, increasingly heavy regulatory oversight, system demands, and patient expectations were already combining to form a context that was challenging for many providers.
With a new Chief Executive having recently joined, and the current CFO due for retirement in 2022, LAS is looking to find its next senior financial executive to help the Trust continue to deliver its vision and strategy for the people of London, in an exciting yet challenging environment. This is a pivotal time for the Trust which provides scope to innovate and to influence future service provision, with scope for a brief which is wider than finance this post offers the opportunity to make a difference. As such this role requires strong leadership skills and fresh thinking. You will join a recently strengthened Board that has clear ambitions, and you will lead a strong, experienced team. CCAB qualified, you will be an experienced finance director who is able to command the respect of colleagues internally and externally. Your ability to build on the partnerships with our commissioners and other partners locally and regionally will be essential.
If you believe you can contribute to our ambition to be the best ambulance trust in the NHS, we want to hear from you. For a confidential conversation please call David Heaton or Melanie West of GatenbySanderson on 0113 205 6094 or 020 7426 3975.
