At RECCo we are creating a new model of energy code governance, one that is responsive to the needs of all stakeholders.

The Retail Energy Code Company (RECCo) is the corporate vehicle for ensuring the proper, effective, and efficient implementation and ongoing management of the Retail Energy Code (REC). This code facilitates the efficient and effective running of the retail energy market, including its systems and processes, promoting innovation, competition, and positive customer outcomes for faster, more reliable switching.  

Role: Non-Executive Director (NED) x 2 reporting into the Chair of RECCo

The RECCo Board is the senior governance group of RECCo and has accountability for all RECCo functions as well as exercising oversight over its operations. The RECCo Board is accountable to REC parties for the operation of the REC.

This Board requires a broad range of experience from its Non-Executive Directors (NEDs), with   the knowledge to support and guide the executive team and act as its first line of accountability, appraising performance, challenging approaches and judgements and scrutinising delivery. As RECCo transitions to an enduring board, it is seeking two further NEDs to act as subject matter experts, one in the area of Commercial matters and the second in Policy, Regulation and Net Zero.

The Commercial focused NED will have expertise in the field of full life-cycle contract management of multiple contracts. The Policy, Regulation and Net Zero focused NED will have knowledge of the policy and regulatory environment of RECCo as it pertains to the UK energy market and the Net Zero agenda.

Both NEDs will have strong leadership skills and relevant senior experience gained in a significant public or private sector organisation. They will possess the ability to take a long-term strategic outlook and apply sustainable development principles to decision-making. They will also have a good understanding of effective corporate governance and be energetic, enthusiastic, and motivated by the opportunity to develop and implement RECCo’s future strategies.

These appointments will be for two days per month (subject to review).

Remuneration will be set at c.£1000 per day based on an initial yearly commitment of up to 24 days.

RECCo’s constituency is rich in diversity and we are keen to recruit people from diverse backgrounds who can broaden the Board’s knowledge and experience.  You need not have experience as a Trustee previously; diversity of thought is more important.
