Nuclear Decommissioning Authority
The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) is an executive non-departmental public body of the Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), responsible for cleaning up the UK’s earliest nuclear sites safely, securely, and cost-effectively. We are committed to overcoming the challenges of nuclear clean-up and decommissioning, leaving our 17 sites safe and ready for their next use. Within the wider NDA group of organisations, there are around 16,000 employees who help to deliver the NDA mission and they make up one of the most advanced nuclear decommissioning workforces in the world. Our new operating model is helping us to unlock the full potential and benefits that come from operating as a group of integrated companies.
We plan to capitalise on the NDA group’s wealth of experience and talent, harnessing the opportunities that come from our scale and breadth to deliver best value for the UK taxpayer and seek ways to reduce the level of public funding from government by generating revenue from commercial activities. We are now seeking to appoint a new Group Commercial & Business Development Officer (GC&BDO) to lead this group-wide leveraging of resources and maximise business development opportunities.
Working as part of the NDA Group Leadership Team, our GC&BDO will lead and develop an exemplar commercial and business development function for the NDA. Supported by a team of domain specialists, the role holder will oversee the management of a wide range of category management activities including market engagement, development of sourcing strategies, spend management, commercial contract management and supplier relationship management. He or she will build on and develop strong relationships and engage with stakeholders in the NDA group, BEIS and the Government Commercial Function (GCF) as well as external stakeholders, to develop future business development opportunities.
This is a challenging role which represents an extraordinary opportunity for a leader with significant commercial capability to develop a best‐in‐class organisation, able to negotiate with industry and deliver value for money solutions for the taxpayer. This is a hugely exciting, challenging and rewarding position in which decisions over the coming years can carry weight for the next generation and beyond.
We are interested to hear from applicants with outstanding commercial credentials developed in large-scale, complex, environments in the public or private sector and an excellent track record of managing challenging and complex supply chains. They will bring a high energy, target driven approach and a global perspective on market opportunities.
Candidates will need to be highly credible leaders with the ability to form positive, effective, and trusted relationships with people at the highest levels in industry and government.
