North Bristol NHS Trust
Be part of something special.
Be part of Bristol.
With more than 8,000 staff delivering healthcare across Southmead Hospital Bristol, Cossham Hospital, Bristol Centre for Enablement and within the local community of Bristol and South Gloucestershire, our aim is to provide our patients with best practice, high quality care and treatment that is comparable to the best in the world. We want to care for our patients in a safe environment and ensure that everyone has an outstanding experience.
At a time when the imperative for change both internally and across the health and social care system nationally has been heightened by the pressures and challenges presented by the Covid-19 crisis, we are seeking an exceptional leader and finance professional to be our next Director of Operational Finance. This is a genuine leadership role – the opportunity to shape a finance function that is truly responsive to the needs of those it serves. The post holder will be a senior member of the finance leadership team, reporting to the CFO and responsible for managing the finance, contract and commercial directorate, ensuring a high quality service to the Trust and closely engaged in the emerging Integrated Care System (ICS) as we embark on a large scale transformational change journey.
Alongside the responsibility for leading delivery of statutory financial duties, the successful candidate will have a part to play in horizon scanning, will contribute to system wide transformation and will influence decisions on new business cases across all areas of the Trust. To be successful, you will bring excellent technical expertise (professional CCAB accountancy qualification and valid membership), knowledge and understanding of the NHS environment and a strong track record of delivering improvement within a highly complex and fast moving organisation. A track record of providing robust, values driven leadership, which values people, prioritises personal development and encourages meaningful leadership and engagement in programmes of change, is key.
This is a demanding role – one which will require genuine flexibility in approach, an ability to work at pace, manage multiple work streams, drive results which align to our corporate objectives (in particular our financial sustainability) and deal with ambiguity and competing pressures as we move towards closer system working as an ICS. It is a role which will bring challenge and reward in equal measure as you lead the directorate in developing the capability and capacity required to enable our organisation to meet the needs of those who rely on our services.
