Citizens Advice Sheffield
Citizens Advice Sheffield is both a Law Centre and one of the largest local Citizens Advice services in England with a turnover of more than £4.5 million. We are a dynamic voluntary organisation delivering critical services to some of our most disadvantaged communities, making a significant contribution to reducing poverty and inequality in Sheffield. We provide a combination of local advice services including legal aid funded services, contribute to the national consumer advice service, lead the city’s statutory advocacy hub and contribute to the national Help to Claim Service. We are proud of our work during the pandemic year 2020/21, which saw us helping more than 10% of households in the city.
We are seeking a new Chief Executive to replace the current incumbent, who is retiring. This is a significant leadership role within the city of Sheffield: the postholder will both lead the further development of our organisation and directly contribute to the development of one of England’s largest cities. Principled and compassionate leadership is essential to the success of our services, delivered by our dedicated staff and volunteers. The Chief Executive will lead our work, ensuring that data analysis about service users is effectively applied to campaigning for national policy change and as the basis for developing new local partnerships and public policy initiatives. Working with an experienced Board of Trustees, and a range of stakeholders both at city and national level, our Chief Executive will play a key role in enabling the city to further address inequality and unfairness.
The successful candidate will have a track record of exemplary leadership, providing high quality services and achieving complex service change and improvement. You will bring astute political awareness combined with strong relationship-building and influencing skills. You will have excellent strategic planning, financial and people management skills as well as a strong understanding of and commitment to tackling poverty and social injustice. Committed to equity, diversity and inclusion, you will be dedicated to its application to service delivery in the charity sector. Above all, our Chief Executive will be passionate about making England’s fourth largest city a fairer and even more attractive place to live.
Citizens Advice Sheffield recognises the positive value of diversity, promotes equality and challenges unfair discrimination. We recognise that people with different backgrounds, skills, attitudes and experiences bring fresh ideas and perceptions, and we wish to encourage and harness these differences to make our services more relevant and approachable. We welcome applications from all regardless of age, gender identity, disability, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, religion or belief, race or ethnic origin, sex, sexual orientation, transgender status or social economic background.
