The NDA’s clean-up and decommissioning mission relies on the safe transport of materials to, from and between our sites. In 2021 we are bringing our extensive transport and logistics capabilities together to create Nuclear Transport Solutions (NTS) - the leading global provider of safe, secure and reliable nuclear transport solutions. As well as supporting the NDA mission, NTS will also use its world-leading expertise to deliver commercial activities for a range of customers in the UK and overseas and provide transport services outside of the nuclear sector.
We are seeking to appoint a new Chair to lead the board of NTS as it sets the strategic framework and direction for operations, in alignment with the NDA’s strategy. You will use your experience to shape and define this strategy and scrutinise the delivery of it. You will set the expectation and pace for growth and improvement. Further to this, you will represent the organisation to stakeholders, customers, suppliers, Government, and regulators and the communities in which the NTS operates.
In addition to performing the core role of a Chair, candidates will need to demonstrate the ability to lead and shape the strategic direction of a newly established organisation in a non-executive leadership role. You will also possess significant leadership experience in a complex, safety critical group environment with a track record of leading the development, identification, and delivery of new business opportunities in a commercial environment.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced non-executive director, with a track record of operating as a Chair, capable of heading up a Board in accordance with the UK Corporate Governance Code. A track record of leading and reporting within highly public and scrutinised, pressurised environments will be an advantage. You will possess an understanding of building diverse boards and will be an effective communicator across a complex stakeholder landscape, working in a collaborative manner with Board colleagues, the executive team, and across NTS with an open and personable style.
