Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in becoming our next Chief Executive.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the highest level in Local Government and to make a positive difference to the lives of people in our communities.

We are looking for a dedicated and skilful Chief Executive to work alongside me as Leader, our Members and Officers to deliver on our corporate priorities – a cleaner, greener Torfaen, protecting the vulnerable and improving educational outcomes for our young people.

You’ll also be at the heart of our work locally and regionally to build our economy in an inclusive way which helps make our communities more resilient and spreads jobs and prosperity as we emerge from the effects of the covid-19 pandemic. Culture and values are a vital part of this for me, as none of these objectives can be met without real teamwork and partnership with other organisations and other levels of Government.

As a Leader, I love Local Government as it is at the real-world confluence of strategic working and impact on the ground. There are no ivory towers here, so you’ll be rewarded by seeing the difference you can make as well as challenged by the issues that we face together. I’ve enjoyed a positive, honest and supportive working relationship with Alison and look forward to building a strong partnership with the new Chief Executive to drive the organisation forwards.

If you feel you are the person to meet this challenge, I do hope you’ll apply and look forward to speaking with you as part of the process.

Yours sincerely,

Anthony
