As the industry training board for construction in England, Scotland and Wales, we are committed to helping the sector recruit the people it needs and develop the skills which will enable industry to innovate, maximise safety, quality and productivity and underpin commercial success and growth. 

We are supporting an already dynamic industry sector through unprecedented times as we embark on the search for our new Chief Executive.  Brexit means that industry needs to step up and meet its skill needs to a greater extent from the UK.  Net Zero will stimulate exciting innovation in new construction methods, and sector advances in digital, data and technology have the potential to be game changing.  Our ability to identify and act on the development of the key skills that will be needed to support such change, has consequently never been more important.

As Chief Executive of CITB, you will perform a high profile, enabling role, forming strong and credible working relationships with key industry and government stakeholders to ensure that our activity is effective, relevant and future focused.  You will also make CITB an exemplar in developing the skills, knowledge and experience of its own workforce and build a culture of customer service and operational excellence so that we provide the best possible support for the employers who fund us.

We are looking for a strategic, authoritative and inclusive leader who has delivered outstanding business performance in a dynamic, industry sector; ideally one in which investment in education and skills has underpinned success. However, whilst prior exposure to the construction sector and/or skills and education is desirable, we are open minded regarding your background, cognisant of the lessons we can learn from related industries.  What is most important is your strategic and operational leadership capability, your commercial acumen and your commitment to supporting a sector of national importance at a critical time.
