Radioactive Waste Management
For more than 60 years, the U.K. has been accumulating radioactive waste that is currently stored safely at over 30 sites around the country. Radioactive Waste Management Limited (RWM) is the company created by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) to deliver the Geological Disposal Facility (GDF) for this, and future, higher activity radioactive waste. Its mission is to deliver a geological disposal facility and provide radioactive waste management solutions.
We are now recruiting for a Community Engagement and Siting Director who will lead RWM’s work to identify a suitable site, with a willing community, to host the UK’s GDF. The nature of the facility and of radioactive waste, makes this a highly challenging stakeholder engagement role, but one of critical importance for the success of the programme. An innovative and creative thinker, you will bring a thorough understanding of radioactive waste policy and the practical challenges of managing radioactive waste. A strong negotiator with an understanding of UK Planning Process including those for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects and a highly effective stakeholder engagement leader.
This is a crucial leadership role within the organisation, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, accountable for delivery of the GDF siting programme as part of the overall GDF Programme. You will have management and leadership responsibility for the Siting and Engagement directorate who lead RWM’s work to identify a suitable site and willing community for GDF implementation and be a key member of the senior leadership team.
This is an exciting time and opportunity to join an organisation that will deliver one of the key national infrastructure projects. For a confidential conversation, please contact Michael Dobson on 07891 142325, or Olivia Robinson on 0113 205 6298.
