L&Q has a rich history and our roots go back to the ‘new wave’ of housing associations formed in the 1960’s. We set out to provide safe, quality, affordable homes for the most vulnerable in society and it is that same fundamental vision that drives us today. We are proud of our heritage and our successes. We make sure our commercial value enables us to deliver our social purpose.  Everything we do begins with a social purpose. Our aim is to deliver quality homes and services: improve our service for existing homes, build the trust and confidence of our residents and place customers at the heart of L&Q.

Today the L&Q Group houses around 250,000 people in more than 100,000 homes, primarily across London and the South East and we are delivering on our ambition in providing thousands of new homes every year.  Our vision is that everyone has a quality home they can afford, and our mission is to combine our social purpose and commercial drive to create homes and neighbourhoods we can be proud of.

L&Q has made a commitment in response to the housing crisis and we are working to create 100,000 new homes over ten years directly and by working in partnership with others. We are now recruiting a new Chair of our Development Committee to continue to support our strategic objectives as a developing housing association.

We are looking for a strategic, socially, and commercially focused individual with the energy and drive to make a difference.  Our new Chair of the Development Committee will have a strategic view of the real estate sector and support L&Q to deliver large and complex developments. Our role is to create places our customers can call home. We need an individual who has a focus, not just on development, but someone who understands broader regeneration and community growth. As the Chair of L&Q’s Development Committee you will support us in developing and maintaining crucial partnerships across the public and private sector.

We need an individual who has experience of operating at executive and non-executive level across large, complex, and diverse organisations. You will be strongly aligned to L&Q’s culture and values, demonstrating a collaborative, enabling leadership style and a deep and authentic commitment to our social purpose. L&Q operates as an ethical and responsible social business and we care about the quality of our homes.

We want our Board to reflect the communities we serve. We value diversity in all its facets, including gender, disability, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation and identity. When it comes to finding talent for L&Q, we have decided to address gender and ethnicity first. As such we are committed to offering an interview to at least one BAME and one female candidate for all senior leadership positions if they fulfil the role criteria.

If you would like to know more about this exceptional opportunity to join one of the largest and most dynamic social housing providers in the UK, then please contact our advisors Simon Wing on 0207 426 3976, Rosie Gunn on 0207 426 3998 or Tim Hills on 0113 205 6085.
