CWLEP are looking to recruit an exceptional business leader as our new Chair, to guide and support our future development as we address the challenges and opportunities ahead. As well as providing leadership to the Board - twenty Directors; seven representing the public sector and thirteen representing the private sector - the role will involve significant engagement with political and business stakeholders to ensure CWLEP can realise its ambitions, secure future funding to accelerate economic growth in the region, promoting the profile of the Coventry and Warwickshire region to businesses and people as a great place to invest, work, live, study and relax. You will work with the Board to provide a strong voice to Government about the opportunities presented by the Coventry and Warwickshire economy and make sure that this voice is heard in Whitehall and Westminster.
The leadership that the CWLEP Chair provides is central to our success. As such, we require an inﬂuential local leader who can bring energy and passion to act as a champion for the area’s economic success. We want you to have a voice, make a difference and give something back to the region. Candidates will need to have links with and an understanding of the Coventry and Warwickshire LEP area and significant leadership experience within a major private sector company. In addition, you will need the drive, tenacity and negotiation skills to represent the LEP effectively and make a certain and positive impact with stakeholders, government and the many businesses we work with.
Established in 2012, CWLEP Ltd is one of 38 LEPs (Local Enterprise Partnerships) in the country and is the instigator of major economic benefit to the region. The global sector strengths of CWLEP can be highlighted by the pioneering partnership work undertaken to win the UK Battery Industrialisation Centre which will have a vital role in helping the UK to become a global leader in the design, development and manufacture of batteries through collaborative research and development between industry and academia. In addition, digital and creative industries are booming in this unique, innovative region, creating dynamic and creative career opportunities.
The purpose of the CWLEP is to help drive forward the local economy, stimulating growth and attracting investment, thereby improving prospects of the communities and people across the area.
We have developed a successful track record over the past seven years of achieving those aims right across Coventry and Warwickshire, helping the area achieve its undoubted potential. When recently assessed nationally on strategy, delivery and governance, we have been identified as one of the top three LEPs in the country.
