A fantastic opportunity has arisen to lead the Pension Fund and Investment Team at Greater Gwent (Torfaen) Pension Fund.  As the second largest fund in Wales, we are a significant voice in terms of Welsh local government pensions and we are extremely proud of our reputation and performance over many years.  We are responsible for the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) for the area covered by the Torfaen, Blaenau Gwent, and Caerphilly County Borough Councils, Monmouthshire County Council and Newport City Council, with over 60,000 members and £3.1bn of assets.

The LGPS arena is undergoing significant change and you will have primary responsibility for the Greater Gwent (Torfaen) Pension Fund, leading and proactively managing and developing the service.  You will ensure adequate governance arrangements are in place for the Pension Fund, together with appropriate support to the Pensions Committee, Pensions Board etc; effective management of the Pension Funds Investment portfolio; support the Wales Pension Partnership; ensure statutory compliance; proactively and continually review the Pension Fund organisational arrangements and; manage the Pension Team staff resources effectively and efficiently.

This is a professional role requiring an experienced and capable leader, manager and communicator.  You will have a financial background and qualification, strong pension fund investment experience and will have managed continuous performance improvement. Evidence of effective relationships with key stakeholders to deliver positive outcomes for the Fund and the LGPS is important.
