Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy
LCCC and ESC are sister companies (wholly-owned by the Secretary of State for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy) that play key roles in supporting the delivery of secure and low-carbon electricity for the UK. LCCC is the counterparty for Contracts for Difference, which incentivise investment in low-carbon electricity generation. ESC is responsible for all financial transactions and associated assurances for the Capacity Market, which maintains a healthy surplus of electricity capacity. The work that we do plays a key role in protecting energy security for the country and supporting and facilitating long-term investment in the UK’s low carbon energy future.
Since forming five years ago, the LCCC & ESC have established a positive reputation across the stakeholder environment we operate and with the recently announced appointment of Regina Finn as our new Chair, we are facing an exciting time of change. You will work closely with the new Chair and Board, supporting and developing capability and impact across the business. The organisation faces some significant, large scale and complex challenges which, with the right leadership will build confidence in electricity market reform through effective commercial delivery and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will bring experience of working within a commercial environment, with knowledge of the complexities of the structured finance arrangements that enable major infrastructure projects. You will be an excellent communicator, with experience of operating at Board level, in either an Executive or Non-Executive capacity and bring the capability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders and partners across sectors. The challenges facing the organisation are diverse, offering you a great opportunity to make a positive impact in the electricity market.
