Genome Research Ltd (GRL) encompasses a number of interlinked activities undertaken by our operation at the Wellcome Genome Campus, comprising the Wellcome Sanger Institute, Connecting Science, and Enterprise and Innovation. We are an open and collaborative organisation that believes in sharing our data, results, tools and technologies across the world to advance science. Our findings are used to improve health and to understand life on Earth. Our highly specialist work is delivered by more than 1,000 people, including some of the most respected scientists in their field in the world.
We’re now looking for two Non-Executive Directors from a wide variety of backgrounds to join and strengthen the Board including:
- Venture capital investment
- Big data science
- Biodata commercial, translation
- Education, communications
- Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
We like to foster discussion of the scientific, medical and wider implications of genomes and anyone who comes onto the Board will need to be highly experienced in their field, fiercely curious and engaged with what we do. You will help ensure that our strategy and governance is shaped in a way that keeps us at the leading edge of scientific research.
These are important appointments and you will be able to operate and contribute to a maturing board environment. You will be highly credible leader and ambassador, with an instinctive appreciation of the challenges that go hand in hand with running and growing a complex organisation like ours, reaching across different environments and sectors. Comfortable with ambiguity, your communication, interpersonal and influencing skills will be second to none.
These roles are unremunerated and the time commitment for these roles is c.6 days a year.
