Client
Somerset County Council
We’ve got big plans for Somerset. It’s a beautiful and vibrant place and we’re ambitious about how it can grow. Our vision is focused on improving lives through innovative services that create a thriving and productive County, resilient and compassionate communities, successful partnerships, and support to those who need it most.
To underpin this vision we have taken, head on, the challenge of balancing our budgets whilst improving services. Councillors and officers have made some difficult choices as we know that we need to continue to improve and innovate whilst living within our financial means. Based on our reframed finances, we have realistic and exciting plans for designing and delivering our services.
Somerset County Council is well on the way to turning the corner. Our auditors, peer reviewers and Ofsted all say we are improving. Our reserves are significantly increased with plans to continue this investment. Our staff are committed and delivering high quality services while making necessary savings and keeping to budget. We are investing in our Senior Leadership Team with a strong and comprehensive development programme.
With so much positive about Somerset, now is the time to fill a vital strategic post – Director of Finance. Reporting into the Chief Executive, you will already be working as a section 151 officer or ambitious deputy and be able to offer outstanding technical and organisational skills.
Somerset is a fantastic place to live and work - home to Exmoor National Park and a whole host of beautiful landscapes, towns and villages. This is the right time to join an exciting organisation as an ambitious section 151 Officer and we’d be delighted to give the right candidate a warm Somerset welcome.
