Our diverse national property portfolio reflects this scale, with around 810 properties covering over 1.3m square metres providing workplaces for 84,000 employees across our network, and following the successful exit from a PFI contract in 2018 the DWP Estates Directorate has established a new operating model, and is accountable for the delivery of all real estate services including facilities and project management either directly or through third party supplier partners.
As Head of Real Estate Major Projects, you will play a central role in delivering the construction and refurbishment projects which will help shape our future organisation and the way it delivers services. Our rationalisation plans will see the development of more focused and/or larger Job Centres, and in collaboration with the Government Hubs Programme we are overhauling our back-of-house operations. You will provide key technical input to the development of future estate strategy and will work with our delivery partners and supply chain to oversee the delivery of all major (£5m+) construction and refurbishment projects. You will provide the essential programme leadership required to help senior stakeholders understand and stay informed of progress and risks, and you will utilise your commercial and contract management expertise to protect DWP’s interests and ensure the best value-for-money for the taxpayer.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading large-scale construction and refurbishment programmes and projects end to end across a diverse, mixed-use estate portfolio. You will have strong leadership and management skills, with experience of developing, motivating and leading teams across a portfolio of projects, and will be able to demonstrate the high-level of communication and relationship management skills required to engage across a complex stakeholder landscape.
