Client
Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council
This is an exciting time to join Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council and an opportunity to make a real difference. We are looking for an outstanding Assistant Director who will bring a track record of delivering and transforming a range of services and who will help us to make further progress.
We are seeking a leader who can meet the challenge through sustainable, innovative and creative ways of working, and who has a passion for providing excellent services to the people, businesses and communities of Rotherham. Effective partnership working both internally and externally is critical to the role. You will need to be able to build and maintain relationships that can provide support and challenge and bring negotiating and influencing skills working with stakeholders to explain proposals and gain consensus for change.
As Assistant Director for children’s social care, you will build on the impressive progress made in recent years and on our ‘good’ Ofsted status. You will manage a range of discrete services, contributing to the strategic direction, impact and overall performance of the Children and Young People’s Services as a member of the Directorate Leadership Team, whilst providing strategic advice within statutory frameworks.
You will initiate and oversee the implementation of major change programmes within the service and we will also ask you to drive forward excellence across a broad range of vital services such as Looked after Children, First Response, Localities, Disabilities and Safeguarding. Under your leadership, your teams will help deliver effective relationships with external stakeholders, partners and agencies, representing and promoting the Council’s interests with these groups.
With experience of leading a diverse management team, a thorough working knowledge of children’s social care best practice (including Working Together, child protection, safeguarding issues and children’s health services), you will have also successfully controlled large budgets and be able to actively demonstrate delivery of high performing, efficient services. You will know how to apply risk management while setting strategies, and have a thorough understanding of the legislation, issues and agendas facing local government.
So if you want to work in an innovative, honest and straight-forward culture, managing change to improve outcomes for the people of Rotherham, we would love to hear from you.
