CILEx Regulation is the independent regulator of members of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and other CILEx members, CILEx Authorised Entities and non-members with Practice Rights in the legal sector. It oversees the education, qualification and practice standards of members and promotes proper standards of professional and personal conduct. CILEx Regulation’s overriding purpose is to ensure the public can trust CILEx members as safe, competent legal practitioners and it carries out its work in accordance with the principles of good and proportionate regulation.
CILEx Regulation operates in a changing and challenging market and the successful candidate will be taking on its leadership at an exciting and progressive period in its history. CILEx Regulation’s progress has been underpinned by a strong people culture, best in class in the development of legal education standards and attainment of a high assurance rating from its oversight regulator.
Working with our Board, the new Chief Executive will provide leadership and strategic direction, ensuring CILEx Regulation continues to deliver on its core objectives, whilst enabling the organisation to evolve, grow and enhance its effectiveness and influence. You will lead and further develop a small but strong team, encouraging a culture of continuous improvement and performance which ensures that CILEx Regulation’s values are upheld. Externally, you will play an important ambassadorial role, building on our achievements to date, to maximise our impact and voice in the sector and beyond. You will create new opportunities and maintain critical, high-value relationships with key stakeholders, including the Legal Services Board, CILEx (the Approved Regulator) and the other legal services regulators.
Whether you are a serving Chief Executive or whether this is a career step, you will have a track record of senior leadership in an organisation operating in the regulatory, regulated or broader public sector. Politically astute, with strong commercial awareness and vision, you will be a collaborative team builder, with outstanding interpersonal, communication and influencing skills, together with the ability to understand the current challenges facing the legal profession.
