Chartered Institute of Arbitrators
The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) is the world’s leading qualifications and professional body for dispute avoidance and dispute management. Operating through 39 branches throughout the world, CIArb is passionate about promoting a harmonious society and helping people and organisations avoid, manage and resolve conflict through its growing global network of 16,000 members.
This is an exciting time to join CIArb, which plays a critical role in a sector which is growing, and which has developed and diversified significantly over the last few years. The outgoing Director General has led a period of transformation and this will continue, with the new DG, who will bring a fresh vision and perspective to this. Looking forward, as CIArb focuses on the delivery of the four pillars of its strategy, there will be a keen focus on continued global growth, diversifying its income streams and the expansion of its offering beyond the core professional membership services, as well as servicing the needs of existing members. Maintaining and continuing to promote CIArb’s voice and influence nationally and internationally, with UK Parliament and government, the EU and overseas governments will be critical and, as the country leaves the EU, CIArb will have an important role to play to promote the benefits of ADR and to provide advice to businesses which continue to trade across international boundaries in a post-Brexit world.
You will work with the CIArb Chair and Board of Trustees to ensure that a clear vision, strategy and strong operational business plans are in place and delivered. An inspiring leader, with outstanding communication skills, you will drive a culture of collaboration and high performance and embody the purpose, values of the CIArb. Whether you are a serving Chief Executive/Director-General, or this is a career step, you will have a demonstrable track record operating and influencing at executive board level in a complex organisation. You will be committed to CIArb’s charitable status and purpose and will play a critical ambassadorial role in promoting its impact and influence, working effectively with our many varied stakeholders.
Politically astute, you will be a visible and motivating leader, exercising diplomacy and sensitivity when required yet willing to challenge the status quo when needed. Your integrity, standing and judgement will inspire confidence in the CIArb and its work, enabling it to hold the respect of a demanding and rapidly developing sector
