£95,000 - £105,000

The Home Office is one of the UK’s most complex and data-rich organisations with significant public interest in its success. Operating in a constantly changing political landscape, our mission is to keep Britain’s streets safe and its borders secure, and we are now one of the UK’s most sophisticated users of technology, preserving people’s freedom and protecting citizens from terrorism through operational excellence, systems resilience, and targeted use of customer insight.
Formed in 2012, Border Force secures the border and facilitates the legitimate movement of individuals and goods, whilst preventing those that would cause harm from leaving and entering the UK. This is achieved through the immigration and customs checks carried out at ports and airports: Border Force officers work at 138 sea and air ports across the UK and overseas.
Digital Services at the Border (DSAB) is a large-scale, rapidly evolving programme, which sits within the Digital Data and Technology portfolio and at the forefront of Government transformation. It will transform the way that Border Force and its partners operate, by delivering a suite of digital products and services that enhance front line and intelligence services; enable improved targeting of prohibited and restricted goods and form the basis of an enhanced advanced pre-travel system which will enable Border Force and other stakeholders to readily identify and assess threats.
The Delivery Director - Border Crossing (DSAB), will drive ongoing Programme development and delivery, placing increasing emphasis on transition, deployment and service support and absorbing the necessary changes resulting from EU Exit. A key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Delivery Director will lead a multi-disciplinary cohort, setting clear direction and developing capability through internal and external supplier collaboration. A critical objective will be the transition of the software delivery programme to a live 24/7/365 service environment.
The Delivery Director will have the intellect and flexibility to respond quickly and innovatively to ongoing changes in the Department’s strategic ambitions, setting and maintaining industry standards through effective management of resource. A key requirement of the role is complex internal and external senior stakeholder management, ensuring consistent engagement and communication to build and maintain support for the programme and secure effective business and user involvement throughout the delivery process.
You will be an experienced technology leader with a proven track record of successfully managing the delivery of high value, interdependent, technology change programmes in a data rich, always on business environment. Specifically, this will include experience of leading the delivery of high value software development programmes and managing their successful transition into live environments. Your career history will include experience of multi-layered systems integration, gained as a supplier and/or intelligent customer of a service, together with exemplary commercial, contract and budget management skills. You will be an agile practitioner, able to deliver at pace whilst continuously improving and adhering to recognised industry best practice and quality standards.
