Nottingham is a great city to live and work for many reasons…  We are an innovative, vibrant and fast growing Core City, with a new era of regeneration in the City. We have one of the best public transport networks in the country with an extended tram system and exceptional rail links.  We have a flourishing arts, events and music scene, a great and developing shopping offer, fantastic sports facilities and tantalizingly great restaurants and buzzing night-time scene. We want you to be part of it.

We’re looking for a dynamic leader who is enthusiastic, passionate and visionary; who demands commitment and results but is able to lead and motivate their people to deliver results.

Are you a high performer with a credible track record in success? Our ideal candidate should be a leading finance specialist, and be able to work collaboratively with our other Heads of Service to compliment our leadership capacity and shape the vision for the services; we’re expecting someone to deliver results, lead people, manage significant outcomes and demonstrate accountability.

As the Head of service, you will lead on the financial governance of the council’s companies, support the transformation of a new finance system and help the finance service through a period of transition, adding leadership capacity. You will enable the workforce to continue to meet the demands of the council, whilst being influential to modernise the financial practices in the organisation.

We are looking for candidates to demonstrate a commercial and fresh approach that encourages innovation that provides critical counsel to senior stakeholders and partners.

A Finance background in the private or public sector - or both – hold CIMA, CIPFA, ACCA, qualifications with at least 5 years post qualifications experience.

If this sounds like the opportunity you’ve been looking for, we’re excited to hear from you.

There has never been a better time to join Nottingham City Council. Known for inclusivity and innovation, we have also won a host of Employee Benefits Awards, are a leading employer of Apprentices and we are continually working around the clock to deliver high quality services for Nottingham’s citizens, visitors and investors.

Our aspiration is to make Nottingham a Great City, but to do this we need to be a Great Council, provide Great Services and recruit and develop a Great Workforce.

Join an organisation that gives you extra – we will value your contributions, promote flexible and modern ways of working, will double your monthly pension contributions, offer a very generous 25-32 days holiday package each year (exclusive of public bank holidays and dependent on length of service) and give you the option to purchase up to 28 days additional holiday tax-free.

A great city deserves a great council, and a great council deserves a great workforce – what are you waiting for? We particularly welcome applicants from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities, and applicants that consider themselves disabled as these groups are currently under represented within our workforce.
