South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SCAS) provides a range of emergency, urgent care and non-emergency healthcare services, along with commercial logistics services. The Trust delivers most of these services to the populations of the South Central region – Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire – as well as non-emergency patient transport services in Surrey and Sussex. We serve a population of over seven million people across the six counties. We employ 3,600 staff who, together with over 1,000 volunteers, enable us to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.


Our Chief Operating Officer is a key senior role on the Board, with a broad portfolio of services, ensuring the safe provision of high-quality patient focused services that meet national performance targets within resources available. Working with executive colleagues, you will develop and manage the organisation’s people, internal processes and infrastructure, in order to allow SCAS to undertake its core activities as well as contribute to its strategic direction.


We’re seeking an experienced operational leader with the capability to inspire and motivate a wide range of staff and stakeholders. You will bring expertise of working through people to deliver complex, diverse and dispersed services – we have plenty of NHS expertise so fresh thinking from other sectors would be equally welcome. Aspirational and performance focused you enjoy driving transformational change and strive for continuous quality improvement, a creative thinker, you are pragmatic and clear thinking.
