HM Revenue and Customs
At HMRC we are modernising the tax system for an increasingly digital economy, whilst also transforming our own organisation. Put simply, we want a tax system that gets tax right for everyone, effortlessly. Crucially, we are committed to delivering a tax system that is trusted and seen to be fair, collecting revenues to fund public services at minimal cost to our customers and HMRC. We started the journey towards a healthy tax system in 2015 when we started to make tax digital, with a transformation portfolio worth £1.7 billion. This was only the first step and we are continuing to implement bold plans to transform our IT and digital services. We are already one of the most digital organisations in the UK and our aim is even more ambitious: by 2020 we will be one of the most digitally advanced tax authorities in the world.
Reporting to the CIO for Corporate Services, you will perform a pivotal new role that will lead a technology department to deliver business centred digital transformation at pace for commercial, procurement and other corporate capability processes. Working as the single point of contact for the business, you will work at the intersection of strategy, technology, delivery and stakeholder management, providing coherent and inspiring leadership to blended teams to truly enable this function. You’ll do this through the delivery of outstanding products and services and the development and maximisation of third party partnerships.
You will be an excellent technology leader and trusted advisor with extensive experience of developing senior business relationships and shaping and underpinning corporate strategies through investment in IT and digital and associated culture change. With a consistent track record of delivering complex, high-value technology programme transformation in support of large-scale, changing businesses, you’ll be a collaborative enterprise wide thinker who’s accustomed to designing and embedding technology change in large-scale live services, putting customers and users at the heart of plans to deliver required outcomes. Familiar with commercial and procurement environments (and ideally with some prior exposure to shared services environments), you will be a digital professional first and foremost, with experience of implementing, running and maximizing SAP, with first-hand understanding of how technology can enable commercial and business process best practice.
