Education and skills are at the heart of our plans or the future of Birmingham, and that means improving the performance of schools and early years provision. Joining us as part of a new streamlined leadership team, you’ll analyse and act on data to implement initiatives, plans and policies across a broad portfolio that includes Schools Safeguarding, Improvement and Resilience, School Admissions and Education Infrastructure. Your goal will be to provide safe, high-quality services while achieving value for money. You will translate strategic priorities into operational plans to ensure we provide educational services that deliver on the needs of a 21st century city.
You’ll bring senior-level experience of managing early years and education at a strategic level. This will include experience of improving performance across complex, multi-faceted, multi-sited staffing groups. With a relevant professional qualification in education or social care, you’ll have a good grasp of the statutory and regulatory responsibilities of local government, combined with a strong customer and community focus. You’ll have ability to deliver services within challenging budgets, including a track-record of creating new sources of income and securing major funding. Experience of developing effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders and negotiating with outside agencies is essential. The pace will be rapid so you’ll need to be focused on delivery, but as priorities may change, flexibility and adaptability are also important.
