Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust is an integrated organisation providing acute health care services from Torbay Hospital, community health services and adult social care.

The Trust runs Torbay Hospital as well as community hospitals and hubs across Devon. We also provide health and social care to the local population.

We have around 500,000 face-to-face contacts with patients in their homes and communities each year and see over 78,000 people in our A&E department annually. We serve a resident population of approximately 286,000 people, plus about 100,000 visitors at any one time during the summer holiday season.

An authorised Foundation Trust since 2007, we employ approximately 6,000 staff including frontline health and social care staff, such as nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, consultants, and physiotherapists who work in homes as well as from a range of different premises across Torbay and south Devon such as community hospitals and clinics.

We’re seeking an experienced board level leader to join our Board.  Working alongside the chairman, six other non-executive directors and seven executive directors as well as our talented and engaged Council of Governors, the appointed individual will share responsibility for the success of the organisation.  Whilst the task ahead of us is simple - to provide the best care we can for the people we serve with the resources available; the delivery is more complex, and we are seeking an individual able to evidence creative, innovative thinking, strategic capability and a track record of high calibre leadership and delivery to add value and insight to this journey.  Ultimately, much of our success will be dependent on the diversity of experience offered by our Board, and as such we are seeking applications from individuals who bring expertise specifically in the areas of social care, pharma and estates strategy.   Above all else, the successful candidate will evidence a high level of commitment to patients, service users, clients, carers, families and the community and have the energy and vision to lead us into the next chapter with integrity and passion.
