Over time, Torfaen has experienced many changes in its economy. We have a new and exciting role for a Head of Economy and Skills to oversee all policy and service areas which impact on the economic wellbeing of our communities, developing strategies in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders.  As a core member of the Service Leadership Team, you will be responsible for areas such as; Economy and Renewal, Skills and Employability, Adult Education and Libraries. You will be part of the authority’s team representing the interests of the Borough at the Cardiff City Deal table, transforming the Torfaen offer for businesses and inward investment, aligning local skill needs. 

You will need to bring proven knowledge of economic growth, development and legislation, along with the associated skills and productivity agenda, gained in a large complex organisation with a customer focus, evidencing positive outcomes.  A track record of working in successful partnerships with a wide range of internal and external bodies, is essential.  You will demonstrate strength in providing visible and adaptive leadership, empowering, motivating and developing the team. Experience of effectively managing culture and change initiatives, fostering a positive organisational culture in line with the vision for Torfaen, is required.  You will need to be able to convince us that you have truly delivered results within the context of similar economic programmes.
