This is a new, exciting, Director role at the heart of the Education and Skills Funding Agency, reporting to the Chief Executive. We require a proven senior leader able to manage both policy development and operational excellence in one of the most high profile areas in the agency and across the Department for Education. You will be leading teams who will be delivering the National Funding Formula for pre 16 schools, the single biggest change in a generation of school funding, working on a demanding and complex post 16 funding agenda, funding apprenticeships, one of the government’s top priorities and adult skills in a new and dynamic devolved model.
In total, this operation covers over £63bn of funding and represents one of the single biggest funding operations anywhere in government. You will need to be able to work confidently with ministers, and particularly manage effective working relationships with policy colleagues stretching across the entire department. This role represents the opportunity to develop a truly world class operation across a set of priorities central to the success of the department and the agency.
This is a unique leadership opportunity bringing together all of these vital funding streams and ensuring they are developed and delivered in a way that continues to maximise the opportunities for improvement balanced with the best interests of the taxpayer. You will build on some significant strengths and further develop our capability to match the demands of our new agency bringing clear and inspiring leadership to an area of great breadth and complexity. The agency is moving towards a single Funding Operations Centre of Excellence, bringing together and improving existing functions to deliver an excellent and expert funding service. The post holder will also be responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of a truly 21st century funding system across the agency with potential to grow and develop further.
As a member of the ESFA’s Executive Team, the post holder will be expected to play an active corporate role across the Agency and wider Department, and to role model the Civil Service Leadership Statement by:
