House of Commons
This is an outstanding opportunity to take a senior strategic leadership role in a truly unique organisation at an exciting time of significant change.
The House of Commons Service supports the House and its MPs in performing their parliamentary duties. As a member of the Commons Executive Board, our Finance Director will work closely with the Clerk of the House and the Director General to shape and deliver the Strategy of the House Service. They will also be responsible for leading a high performing finance function, for driving continuous improvement and for ensuring that the finance team delivers on outcomes in line with the Strategy for the House. Leading a team of 50 and managing a budget of £4m, you will lead on business planning, develop and embed a performance management framework to measure the delivery of the Strategy and will provide advice and support to major programmes across the organisation.
You will be an outstanding, collaborative and inclusive leader, who is confident and credible working with Boards, Committees and a wide range of senior stakeholders, both within and outside the House. Excellent communication skills and powerful credentials in motivating teams and influencing others to deliver sustainable change and service improvement are essential and you will be able to combine a strategic overview with first class operational experience. You will bring a considerable and proven track record of leading and managing a finance function in a large, complex organisation, together with exposure to business planning, advising on/leading large programmes or projects and significant experience of investment planning and appraisal change in line with business objectives. Equally important will be your ability to influence, advise, persuade and inspire at all levels.
