With the stunning Snowdonia National Park at the centre of our area, we provide a full range of primary, community, mental health and acute hospital services for a population of around 678,000 people across the six counties of North Wales. The Health Board has a budget of £1.4 billion and a workforce of approximately 17,000 serving three main hospitals along with a network of community hospitals, health centres, clinics, mental health units and community team bases. The Health Board also coordinates the work of over 100 GP practices and NHS services provided by dentists, opticians and pharmacists in North Wales.

We are seeking a new Deputy Medical Director who will work across the whole organisation’s remit supporting the Executive Medical Director with the provision of professional leadership; working closely with the wider Board in the strategic planning of clinical services, their operational delivery and in the cultural development of the Health Board.  Accountable for the Area Medical Directors and the Secondary Care Medical Director, the Deputy Medical Director will further develop our communication and collaboration of primary and secondary care services.  The role will be influential in building relationships and a positive reputation with our people, our patients, the media and wider stakeholders.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced Medical Leader with a background in either Primary or Secondary Care leadership.  You will bring a track record of delivery with demonstrable ability in the effectively engaging a wide range of stakeholders.  With a drive for continuous improvement you will be able to regularly and confidently deputise for our Executive Medical Director in a range of settings locally and nationally.  You will bring a strong strategic focus and win the hearts and minds of our dedicated medical and dental professionals across the breadth of services in our integrated organisation.  This is an exciting career development opportunity for an aspirant Executive Director to influence change and gain broad experience in a complex and rewarding integrated healthcare environment.
