Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
Be Part of Our Team...
BCHC is one of the largest specialist providers of community health services in England. With 4,500 staff and a turnover of c. £280m, we deliver over 100 clinical services, in people's homes, health centres, clinics and inpatient facilities. We provide a wide range of services for children, young people, parents and families as well as adults and community services, two community hospitals, services for people with learning disabilities, prison healthcare in Birmingham, the internationally recognised West Midlands Rehabilitation Centre and one of Europe’s leading Dental Hospitals and School of Dentistry.
The city we serve is undergoing a massive transformation including HS2, preparation for the Commonwealth Games in 2022 and a successful bid to become a 5G city. One of the youngest cities in the country, we also have a growing population of older adults and serve some of the wealthiest and some of the most deprived communities in the country. Following a large scale and well received colleague engagement exercise and the feedback from our recent CQC inspection, we are re-launching our vision, values and strategy. We have set an ambitious vision to provide the best care supporting our patients to live well in healthy communities. To deliver this successfully we have agreed four big strategic objectives which form our Fit for 2022 vision and improvement programme, in which early priorities include: tackling the challenges facing our community children’s teams; leading the launch of integrated neighbourhood teams; redesigning our approach to intermediate care; and delivering a revolution in our approach to the use of IT to support good care.
BCHC is looking for a strong, dynamic and inspirational experienced leader to join us in our commitment to have outstanding services for our patients. As Chief Operating Officer you will be a voting member of the Trust’s Board and a member of the Executive Team, reporting to the Chief Executive. Your responsibilities will include leading our clinical divisions to maintain our track record of delivery and our service redesign, including the future model of intermediate care across Birmingham. You will work across the health and social care system to deliver integrated neighborhood teams and effective local and regional community teams.
To meet the opportunity presented by this role, you will need to bring experience of operating at or close to board level and leading on operations in a healthcare setting. Leadership experience, ability and a passion for community services are more important than specific-sector experience. We are seeking ambitious applicants who want to make a difference to the care we provide to our patients and their families and who are capable of working with a range of partners across health and social care to deliver the best care we can.
