Could you be an inspiring champion for wildlife in Surrey? Surrey Wildlife Trust is looking for a chief executive to lead it through an unprecedented period of change and opportunity.

Surrey Wildlife Trust has grown into one the largest wildlife trusts in England over the past 15 years. We manage nearly 5% of the total area of the county and play an important role in advocating for biodiversity in the area. We have 27,000 members and are part of the wider national federation of the Royal Wildlife Trusts.

We face challenging and exciting times. As the UK leaves the EU, we expect significant shifts in environmental protection and funding. Our 2017 report on the State of Surrey’s Nature revealed that one third of species in our county are either extinct or threatened. At the same time, the Trust is about to embark on an ambitious five-year strategy that is designed to have maximum impact on biodiversity in Surrey. We continue to develop our range of professional and consumer services that support our environmental and fund-raising objectives.

Against this dynamic backdrop we are looking for a high-calibre chief executive to lead the organisation successfully through the next phase of its journey. We are looking for an outstanding, inspiring leader who is highly persuasive and has a track record of forming strong, long-term relationships with stakeholders. You will bring imagination, commercial acumen and the proven ability to think strategically amid considerable political and financial challenges. Your open, engaging leadership style and sound diplomatic judgement will make you adept at taking people with you.

Although you don’t need experience in the conservation or NGO sectors, you will be sympathetic to our charitable mission and objectives.

For an informal, confidential discussion about the role please contact Rebecca O’Connor or Katy Giddens on 020 7426 3373.

The closing date for applications is Monday 29th October 2018.
