Somerset West and Taunton Council
Thank you for your interest in this post, our new functional area of Commercial Investment and Change (CIC), will be responsible for delivering a wide variety of projects ranging from the construction of new Council homes to improving service delivery and efficiency by process re design. The team will be comprised of specialists, programme and project managers, PMO support and business analysts. A key focus for the CIC area will be to drive our commercial ambitions primarily to generate income to subsidise our vital core services to our communities to ensure they have a sustainable future.
We have a large and varied asset base, this coupled with our ambitions for growth in the area creates opportunities for development and regeneration but also drives the need to rationalise what we have. Our important social housing stock creates further opportunities to dynamically manage these assets and many opportunities for further growth.
But our enterprising ambitions don’t only relate to assets, we want to grow our commercial skills across the whole organisation to ensure we are making smart business decisions so we are as efficient as we can be and also to spot and deliver other commercial opportunities, wherever and whatever they might be.
I look forward to reading your application.

Do you have what it takes to transform a new organisation?
We aim to become a world changing organisation that delivers exceptional customer experiences and lifts our ambitions. We are undergoing a Transformational programme of change at the same time as creating one new council, named Somerset West & Taunton, which will cover the area currently administered by Taunton Deane Borough Council and West Somerset Council. With this change comes the unique opportunity to wholeheartedly transform our ways of working and we are recruiting to a new team that will help us move from a traditional service-based structure to a borderless and flexible way of working that is fundamentally aligned to our priorities of people, place and prosperity.
We need two commercial property professionals with the expertise, skills and desire to shape and deliver our ambitions in Commercial Investment and Asset Management.
These are critical roles for us. You will also be responsible for our future investment strategies and identifying key property related opportunities, developing business cases and the delivery of new investment projects that stimulate growth and regeneration and generate a commercial return for the Council.
We are excited to hear from individuals who want to join us in delivering our commercial property ambitions for our new council.
If you have the innovative leadership, drive, expertise and vision required to transform and improve our organisation, we would like to hear from you.
