Ref: GSe43129

An international, multi-disciplinary building science organisation, we have been making a positive difference in the built environment since 1921, improving buildings and infrastructure through our targeted application of research and knowledge generation. Owned by a charity called BRE Trust, we deliver one of the largest programmes of built environment education and research for the public good, with a complete range of advisory, testing, certification, commissioned research and training services. We also use our cutting-edge collaborative research to provide a range of digital products, services, standards and qualifications to bring about positive change in the global built environment.

As our new Chief Executive, you will provide outstanding leadership to our complex, multi-dimensional business as we approach our centenary, helping us to achieve national and international growth and commercial success within the context of our strong value set. You’ll do this through leading the definition and implementation of a coherent future focused vision that strongly resonates with a broad range of customers and stakeholders, ensuring that we maintain and build on our reputation for independence and expertise as a global organisation that makes a difference. To do this, we must run our business well. We are at a key juncture and the decisions we make now will not only impact our future, but also the world and environment in which we live.

A Chief Executive in an organisation of analogous scope, size and complexity or Divisional Director of a comparable business, you will have successfully delivered an ambitious enterprise wide strategy and change plan in support of profitable UK and international business growth. You will have achieved this in an organisation in which technical and academic excellence is a given and development of innovative products and services are core capabilities. Having defined and implemented the required organisational change in support of business plans, you will have embedded a customer-centric, collaborative culture to provide products and services that respond to a broad range of customer and partner challenges and opportunities.

You will be an outstanding leader who operates with authority and gravitas in all respects, having thrived in a dynamic, changing industry sector where you have led, developed and motivated diverse, specialist teams to collaborate and deliver exceptional outcomes on behalf of a range of customers, partners and stakeholders. With a track record of developing and motivating individuals and teams to innovate and maximise intellectual capital, products and services, you will be a customer service champion, able to shape and run an agile, highly responsive yet complex business that delivers important outcomes and commercial results, with a willingness to go on record and promote UK plc at the most senior, formal levels, both in industry and government.
