Spanning 200 square miles of central England, the National Forest is one of the country’s most ambitious and highly regarded environmental projects. It is about so much more than trees; pioneering new ways of working to reconnect people and businesses with nature, and creating a place to grow together. For more than 20 years the National Forest Company has driven forward the vision for the National Forest, taking it from a leap of faith to the success story we see today: a restored forest landscape; an emerging visitor destination; and the active support of local communities. But there is so much more to do.

The Government’s 25 Year Environment Plan sets a new ambition to protect and enhance our natural environment.  The National Forest is at the forefront of this approach with a strategy to create a resilient, accessible and sustainable Forest.  To help realise these aspirations we are now seeking a talented and experienced Director of Operations who can think big and break new ground. In this pivotal role you will lead the delivery of our operations work, continuing forest creation and management, growing the woodland and visitor economy, and broadening initiatives that engage and benefit communities.

This role requires a strategic and collaborative leader driving forward a diverse programme of projects, partnerships and commercial development, and research and monitoring. You will bring a track record of success, a partnership approach, and the skills to operate in a complex environment. Above all, you will share our passion for the National Forest, be motivated to create a positive difference for future generations, and be inspired by this unique opportunity to make your mark with a national exemplar of sustainability.
