We are one of the largest Fire and Rescue Services in the country, providing services to an area over 1,400 miles and a population of 1.7 million, from our 50 stations spread across the county. On the 1st of October 2017, we became the first Fire and Rescue Service in the country to change its governance and report in to the country’s first Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner and we are leading the way in cross service collaboration and will work with Essex Police and wider partners to deliver further improvements to keep our communities safer.
Responsible to the Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive for making Essex communities safer by leading the direction and the provision of all corporate services across the organisation. You will ensure the provision of effective and efficient corporate services to the Authority and Service across Finance, HR, Procurement, Payroll/Pensions, ICT, Learning and Development, Communications, Legal Services, Collaboration and Workforce Development. Inspiring people through change is critical to the success of this organisation, and so we are looking for a new Director that brings either a finance background, or a people focused background within this discipline. Critical, will be your ability to motivate a team through the transformational change journey, work with stakeholders across the business, and bring a strategic perspective to the Service Leadership Team.
