Step by Step is a highly focused specialist charity – our ambition is based simply on a desire to help as many disadvantaged young people as possible. This is coupled with a belief, supported by unquestionable evidence, that Step by Step’s staged accommodation model and support programmes deliver great outcomes. Our focus is on empowering homeless young people and those facing adversity. We do this through providing a range of accommodation options and support services, set into a progressive step by step programme that encourages and motivates young people to achieve their full potential. We focus on disadvantaged 16-25 year olds and offer advice and support services to 11-15 year olds, aimed at preventing early stage issues developing into homelessness.

In the 2010/11 year, we embarked on an ambitious five-year growth strategy that aims to triple the number of bed spaces provided and double the number of young people we support. We’re on track to achieve our growth strategy and are now seeking a Head of Income Generation to join our Senior Leadership Team. The post is critical to growing the income of the charity and setting it on a path to substantially and sustainably increase the number of young vulnerable and homeless people we can support year on year.

Responsible for a small team this post is both strategic and technical and will suit someone with significant career experience and sound knowledge in income generation. The post holder will be responsible for improving and growing current income streams – Tenders, Grants (statutory sources and trusts and foundations), Community and Corporate Fundraising – as well as developing unexplored income streams such as donor marketing and individual giving.

A skilled communicator you will bring vision, energy and creative flair, along with tenacity and fresh thinking. This is a particularly exciting time to join us as we enter a new phase in our development. If you believe you have the skills and qualities we’re seeking, we very much look forward to hearing from you.
