The SIA exists to protect the public through effective regulation of the private security industry. We are a high performing regulator, working collaboratively with industry, enforcement agencies, Government, and the devolved administrations in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

You will join us at a time of change and increased public interest in us and our work. Earlier this year, Parliament passed new legislation which named the SIA as the new, independent, Martyn’s Law regulator; an important and substantial role that will raise the standards of preparedness and protective security across the UK.

Reporting to the Executive Director for Martyn’s Law, you will be responsible for the set-up, mobilisation and strategic leadership of the new Martyn’s Law Guidance and Review regulatory function. This will involve leading the development of accessible regulatory and operational guidance, engaging with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and the regulated community through an outreach programme, and delivering reviews and inspection support to regulate compliance with the Martyn’s Law duty and build trust, confidence and credibility in the new regulator.

With a track record of senior leadership in regulatory guidance or review functions, you will bring a strong understanding of regulatory or compliance frameworks, with experience of successfully developing and implementing regulatory frameworks at a comparable organisation. As a strategic thinker, inspiring leader, and confident, effective communicator, you will be well-equipped to make a strong contribution to the success of Martyn’s Law through your work, which will inform and educate to maximise compliance. In doing so, you will be making a positive and tangible impact on public safety and protective security standards across the UK. Whilst prior exposure to protective security or counter-terrorism is desirable, we welcome applications from a range of industry sectors.

This is both an exceptional career opportunity and an exciting time to be part of the SIA; there is significant high profile and external interest in the outcomes in this portfolio. If you have the necessary skills, expertise, and experience, share our passion for making a real difference to public safety and will embrace our values and culture, we look forward to hearing from you.
