bpha has a justifiably strong reputation in the social housing sector, with a turnover of £171m, managing over 20,000 homes and employing over 600 people. We operate across the region between Cambridge and Oxford, with many of our activities centred around Bedfordshire, Milton Keynes and Cambridge.

We have a reputation for delivering high quality, value for money services for customers and developing energy-efficient, sustainable, and affordable housing which is fit for the future. As a people-focused and inclusive organisation, we continue to achieve annual external recognition as a Great Place to Work employer.

We are also clear in our ambition to help build communities where people can live happily in a home they can afford. Changes within our consumer and regulatory landscape are influencing the direction of our people strategy, set against a competitive recruitment market, an evolving workforce and skills professionalisation agenda within our sector.

This is a vital, rewarding and challenging agenda and we are looking for a new Non-Executive Director to help build on these strong foundations.

A skilled, diverse and informed Board is critical to our success. As we enter a new cycle in our corporate planning, following a refresh of our corporate strategy, we are looking for a Non-Executive Director to bring specific experience of developing and delivering people and culture change strategies as well as the required leadership skills and emotional intelligence to contribute to a strong Board and Executive Team.

This role offers an interesting and varied brief; being the chair of the People & Nominations Committee, plus membership of our Customer Engagement and Development and Assets Committees.

We are seeking a senior leader with Non-Executive experience who understands the critical role of people and organisational culture in delivering strong, customer-focused services. You should already be operating at Board level and ideally have experience chairing or facilitating a Board Committee or similar senior group.

You will bring valuable insight, knowledge, and business acumen, along with political awareness and a customer-focused perspective, to help shape the full corporate agenda. You excel at reviewing financial and operational performance, identifying key areas for discussion and challenge, and ensuring that both colleague and customer voices are heard and represented.

We are excited by the opportunities ahead. If you would like to become a significant part of bpha and help us shape and deliver our vision, we would like to hear from you.

Our current Chair of our People and Nominations Committee is also our Senior Independent Director. The SID role will be filled from the NED board members which would include the successful candidate for this role. Therefore, previous SID experience would be of interest.
