Recognised for our innovation and investment, this is a fantastic opportunity to join our leadership team in children and young people’s services to drive forwards our safeguarding and placement services, embracing the new reforms of the Families First Programme, and continuing to deliver significant change to achieve ambitious outcomes for Rotherham’s children, young people and families.

As our new Assistant Director for Safeguarding, you will drive strategic change and transformation, building on our strong reputation for supporting children and families. You will ensure they are protected from harm and exploitation, as demonstrated in our recent focused visits and local area SEND Inspection. We are committed to implementing the government’s ambitions in family help and intervention services, and you will bring the passion and energy to achieve excellent performance, developing positive collaborative relationships with key stakeholders within the borough and across South Yorkshire. This role is key in reshaping social care, ensuring seamless delivery of services across child in need, child protection and children in care.

This is an exciting opportunity across a broad portfolio, collaborating with an experienced team to ensure that improving children’s lives is at the heart of everything we do. The role requires excellent practice knowledge, strong leadership skills, and the ability to support staff and work effectively with statutory partners to secure positive outcomes for children. You will bring experience of leading children’s social care and placement services, but most of all, we seek someone with the passion and ambition to deliver the best services for the children, young people, and families of our borough. We need someone with the passion, ability, skills, experience, and drive to address key challenges for children, young people, and their families in the context of both national and local reform, whilst simultaneously providing a supportive environment for you to grow. The Council’s commitment to ensuring every child can fulfil their potential is integral to everything it does and you would be at the heart of making a positive change for our borough’s children and families.
