The British Society for Immunology (BSI) is the leading UK charity organisation representing scientists and clinicians who study the immune system. As a membership organisation, we act as a focal hub for the immunology community, supporting and empowering immunologists working in academic, industry and clinical settings to drive forward scientific discovery and application together. We also aim to harness the knowledge generated by our membership and reach out to the wider world – policymakers, public, the media – to ensure that society is aware of the health benefits that immunology research can deliver.

We will appoint our next Chief Executive at a key inflection point to lead our talented team and deliver our ambitious new strategy. Commitment to membership growth, income diversification and continued positive impact will underpin our activity, along with a desire to maximise our influence as a respected authority and convening agent in an increasingly interconnected immunology ecosystem.

We are looking for a collaborative and energetic leader with a genuine interest in our work and our members. A customer-centric, commercially astute Chief Executive or Executive Director/senior leader who is accustomed to member-led settings and their associated governance, able to work with boards, strategic partners and volunteers across organisational and sector boundaries to deliver outstanding results.

A democratic, inclusive and inspiring leader, your contemporary skillset and commensurate values will be more important than sector background, though prior exposure to science and more broadly STEM will be helpful.

We are excited about our future and hope you will consider applying for this important role.
